Life After The Wedding with The Husbands

Hey Cuties,

Last week I caught up with my WHUR favorites, The Husbands. I sat down with them this time last year to talk about Why Marriage is Not a Must Have for me. Even now that I am married, my opinions have not changed. So it was only right that we talk about what life is like after saying I Do.

If you live under a rock then get caught up here.  I already shared the details of our I Do, and how we told our family. So we chatted about what life is like now. Spoiler Alert: Two months in, and it doesn’t feel any different.

Our energy is always so high, you have to know how to roll with the punches and throw a few jabs yourself.

Life after the wedding 2 Months in:

  • Marriage is a milestone for some people, it is a lifelong goal that they desire to check off of their list. No such list exists for me.
  • Although marriage wasn’t a goal for me I still treasure it 100%.
  • It makes me giggle to be called Mrs. Robinson
  • I love all of the newlywed stuff.
  • I’m still getting used to being called a wife and saying the word husband.
  • Us getting married changed nothing for our kids.
  • Since being married I’m more intentional with our time.
  • Changing my last name everywhere was rather uncomplicated.
  • Perfecting your new signature takes some work.
  • I would do it all again the exact same way!

    • MimiCuteLips

Yes, girl I am the planner of all planners. I love to plan and put something together. Thanks! Recently we went to a party and I kept having to introduce him. I would say this is my husband over and over again. In my mind I was like I have a husband, this man is my husband. lol

I am a firm believer in people doing what’s best for them. For me, I knew what I wanted if I got married, but it was also more for the commitment to each other before God than everything else. We spent a lot of money and did ALL of the things but I always said if I got married this is what I wanted and I would do it all over again the same way! But we were together on a lot of things prior to getting married so I never felt like a lot changed afterward.

I totally agree, when people know what they want and then make that happen it is gratifying. The folks who allow other people to influence and or change what they want tend to have regrets. When you and your partner are on the same page then you are golden. That speaks to the work you’ve put in as a couple.

I agree with you it is such a blessing! The hubby and I will be 5 years married in September and I remember how it was so weird for him to hear me say my last name whenever someone would ask me for my full name. He was like whoa! We do have the same last name now LOL

  6. Holly

I always wonder if people feel different when they have already been going about their life as one anyway. My male friend said the same, not much difference except now he can say wife.

    • MimiCuteLips

It would be a big difference if we never lived with one another. Moving with someone is an adjustment but we had done that so long ago.

  7. Nadalie Bardo

Well hey there, Mrs. Robinson! Ohh, I will so be checking out your segment. Pretty incredible what you put together in 30 days.

  8. Tiffany Heard

I have to catch up because this is the first blog post I’m seeing about the wedding. Congratulations and cheers to many more years. Wow on planning in 30 days, is that when you decided to get married? What changed your mind about getting married?

    • MimiCuteLips

Thanks! We both felt like we were ready. We knew that if we got married and it would be to each other, we just had to do the work. After doing the work, and going to couples therapy to make sure we had the tools and learning to use them we were good.

  9. Tyra

Your wedding pics are adorable! I didn’t realize you planned this in 30 days, wow. You are remarkable!

  10. Stacie Branson

Cute show! I suspect that not much will really change between you two because of the history you have together.

  11. Kiwi

I cant wait to listen to this show. My parents have been together for 37 years but legally they just got married 8 years ago! It sounds weird but my parents were always married in spirit but they thought it would be better to finally have it legalized on paper…so sometimes its just a piece of paper but the connection is the same if its genuine.

    • MimiCuteLips

Oh wow, I didn’t know that. I get it, we were together 15 years before we made it legal. I love hearing how people got together.
