New York Sights: High Line Park
Hey Cuties,
I hope you enjoyed the weekend, mine was really low key. Babe has been on a boy-cation so it was just the kids and I. I shared their foolishness on social media; because sibling rivalry never takes days off. I shared my dope eats from NY but I wanted to give you a taste of the non-eating things we also did. Make no mistake; eating is always a large part of any trip.
Our first stop was over to Black Tap, an image came across my Instagram timeline and I had to jam on it. Details on this Cookie Shake from heaven HERE.
After consuming all of the calories from that shake, burger and fries we had to walk it off. We checked out High Line Park. It is such a dope piece of landscape in the air. High Line: Is a 1.45-mile long park built in Manhattan on an elevated section of what used to be a New York Central Railroad area called the West Side Line. High Line was redesigned and planted as an aerial green-way park. They also allow you to go bucket naked apparently. I didn’t see any or I would have totally taken a picture.
Our Girl’s vacations are typically for adults only; but we made an exception this time. We brought along my cousins daughter, she had no idea how much we really turn up outside of family functions. Yeah, well she knows now. She is 17 now and as she embarks on vacations with the girls she now has a template. You can’t tell in this picture but she is standing in water. There is like a little water run off that is just enough to put your feet in. You may randomly see a half-naked toddler as well but usually just feet.
I’m sure there is a great back story to this statue but we didn’t know it at the time. All I knew was he was in his drawls, in public, looking creepy. After some research {because you wanted to know} I now have answers. According to the New York Times this is Tony Matelli’s underwear-clad sculpture of a sleepwalking man. This naked man came to High Line Park as part of the show “Wanderlust,” that opened up last month.
There isn’t a bad spot in the park; one side gives you a nice city view (and some of the best Manhattan neighborhoods one could ever live in) and the other gives you a view of the Hudson. It’s no wonder this area attracts so much interest in real estate!
Artist Nari Ward makes sculptural installations from materials he collects in his own neighborhoods. This piece was inspired by a visit to his home town of Jamaica. More on this piece HERE.
You all see my cousins on the blog all the time. They are usually in all of my Girl Trip recaps; Faye went with me to the SOAR Retreat in Miami. Ty was recently cheering me on at the Runway Moms Event. They are my ride or die, I’ve known them all of my life. We went from being little girls to being grown women. They are like my sisters.
We finished our night off with pizza and cocktails.
We kicked off day two with a selfie, because necessary. We got more grub and then walked it off with a little bit of shopping.
You already know how I felt when I saw this inside of Macy’s Herald Square. Yes, the famed Macy’s flagship store on 34th Street is undergoing a $400 Million renovation project. Let that number sink in for a minute. This Macy’s has nine floors, NINE HUGE FLOORS of shopping. These lips can be found in the “basement” also known as the One Below. They are trying to attract millennials and make things more modern.
I’m not a millennial but I like fun and cute.
Uniqlo is one of my favorite stores to visit when I’m in New York. Uniqlo is a Japanese store that makes trendy, moderately priced and casual clothing. I’m so excited that one of their stores is coming to the DC area this summer; Tyson’s Corner specifically.
This was built into a wall at a sneaker store. I thought it was really dope; it encompasses so many New York things.
This dope display was also in the same sneaker store. For those in the cheap seats #23 was Michael Jordan’s number. This is made out of a bunch of gold jump men; that is the logo for the Air Jordan sneaker collection.
Until we meet again, smooches to the NYC.

Now I am even more excited to go back in July! We already have a few tours/shows reserved and I am looking forward to some free time, too!
Nice Robin, have a freaking good time.
I haven’t been to NYC in forever which is sad considering it’s all of 3 hours away from me. There is always so much to do. It looks like you ladies had a blast for sure! Great Photos!
Oh Amanda you need to road trip up.
It looks like you ladies had a blast. I have a sister in NYC, but I haven’t been there. It’s time I schedule a visit.
Oh yes, it is certainly time to schedule a visit.
I have been to New York quite number of times. Apparently I need to go back as I missed all the spots that you were to this time.
See if you an squeeze in one of these on your next trip.
I love NYC. So nude sunbathers on the Highline? That cracks me up. That Macy’s is like the best shopping ever in a museum. So beautiful. I can only imagine what it will look like post reno.
Crazy right.
It really is like a museum, the history of it all is crazy.
That Michael Jordan display is out of this world. I have a friend that is a huge Jordan fan that would love to see something like that in person.
Cassie is was so cool, I’m not a huge fan but it was impressive.
What a fun list of places to visit in NYC, I love all of your photos. Looks like a fabulous time!
Thanks Sarah, it was a good time.
Thanks for sharing, I haven’t been to NYC in forever. Glad you were able to share some places we all should check out in NYC! This is about a five hour drive from me!
Oh nice, you aren’t that far at all. It is 4hrs for us but I like the train.
What a fun New York adventure. I love exploring NYC. Those lips at Macy’s are really cool!

I would love to go exploring around NYC. It really looks like there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Bri it really is, no matter what age you are.
It sounds like you all had a wonderful fun time in New York City. The cookie milkshake looks so delicious and High Line Park looks gorgeous as well as interesting. My sons and I have always wanted to visit New York City but never had the chance. Hopefully some day we can make it there. Thanks for sharing your amazing trip.
Oh Yes Rebecca, I’m looking forward to taking my kids again.
I have been longing to visit NYC again for a while , now. These beautiful pictures are motivation to organize my own girls’ trip. Thank you for sharing!
Yes Hun, get it on the calendar.
I have never been to NY. It always looks like a fun place to visit. I wish I would have went while I was younger though.
Jenn it is a fun place to visit. You can have fun just people watching.
There’s nothing like hanging out with cousins. Fun times for sure! I don’t know if I would have hugged that naked man though lol.
Right Stacie, they are my favorites. Girl that naked man. hahahaha
The statue is spooky. It just is. Looks like a fun NYC trip though for sure!
It really is, it was total fun.
Amazing pictures! My last trip to NY wasn’t for fun. I would love to visit and explore as a tourist. This was the perfect blend of outdoor action and art. That milkshake looks heavenly.
It is the perfect blend, especially when you need a break from all the city life so to speak. The milkshake is amazing.
I’ve never been to NYC before but have always wanted to go. So much fun things to do.
Bonnie the options are limitless. You get a different experience with ever trip. That is why I go so much.
Seems like you all had an awesome weekend! Macy’s must have known you were coming with those lip statutes.
Tia they totally knew I would be in town. 😉
I’ve lived in NYC for 29 years. we have a love-hate relationship. I love the access to all different kinds of food, it’s easy to get around, but I hate the noise and crowds, so I moved to LI.
Kim I totally get it, when I lived there I didn’t do any of this. It took me leaving to come back and do all the things I should have done while there.
You totally fueled my desire to visit New York even more. I wish I had some girls to travel with and truly enjoy the city. I have a few online (hair) friends that live in New York and I’d totally connect with them and let them show me around.
Jay you totally should, New York is a favorite of mine. Between Google and Yelp you can tour all kind of places all on your own.
You are one busy lady!! What a fun Girl’s Trip!! Something else to add to my to do list!
I really am Ty, I love it though. Girl’s Trip are a must.
I love the art scattered throughout. It’s really interesting to come across the different pieces. I think that statie is weird and creepy though.
Tori the art is so freaking cool. The naked guy, not so much.
I’ve known about the highline for a few years and went for the first time sometime last week.It was so nice. Definitely a good place for people watching or a nice walk with friends or bae. I can’t wait til Macy’s ends their renovations. How convenient of the lips display. Did they know you were coming into town? lol
Joanna, when I tell the story they totally knew I was coming to town. hahahahaha
What a cool girls trip! I love the Highline. I went when it first opened, but I’ve been itching to get back. That sleepwalking man in his drawls is a mess!
Shari you should go back, it has changed so much since it opened. He will be there to creep you out.
That statue though…. at first I was like, well isn’t SHE being brave in NYC! LOL Looks likenit was a great visit 🙂
hahahahahahhahaha
I keep seeing that naked man everywhere LOL I haven’t been to New York since Blogher last year. I need to go back just to visit!
Ha, he is a mess. You totally need a visit, your pictures would be all kinds of dope.
The Highline is amazing. You will see the craziest things up there so I am not surprised by that sign at all. LOL. Macy’s Herald Square was my first job. There was an old fashion French Parisian cafe there. I loved that job.
Ha, MJ I love a back story. That is way cool.
