2016 Was So Epic This Is How I Wrap It Up With A Bow

Hey Cuties,

New Year’s Eve is in three days and I am excited about rolling over into a new calendar year.  2016 has been incredible for me.  I experienced a lot of first and checked off several bucket list items. Some things I didn’t even have on my bucket list but were more than bucket list worthy.  Thank you for joining me on this epic journey of “action”.

I love doing a year in review because I’ve forgotten about a lot of things in the first two quarter of the year.  I get to see my growth, my hard work and my accomplishments.  I get a chance to relive these moments from the year.  These are my top ten moments of 2016 in no particular order.

#1 I was a model; I did my little thang on the catwalk thanks to Runway Moms for a Cause.  I had two custom garments made just for my person.

#2 I attended the United State of Women it was an inspiring day filled with the Who’s Who from every single category. I was in the room with Oprah and FLOTUS Michelle Obama at the same time. I was also in the room with POTUS Barack Obama, *faints* and Shonda Rhimes, and Billie Jean King and more.

#3 I resolved my Daddy Issues, this was a personal achievement that should have been on my list but it simply was not.  I must admit, my kids pushed me to deal. They kept asking about my Dad and so I took them to meet him for the first time.

#5 I went to New Orleans for the first time.  I had an epic 5 days full of fun with my love and lots of celebs.  Babe and I have talked about going for many years.  This year we finally made it and we took it all in.  We ate, shopped and enjoyed the culture.

#6 I became a St. Jude Ambassador, St. Jude Children’s Children’s Research Hospital invited me down to Memphis, Tennessee for a full weekend.  I toured the hospital, I talked to the staff and I did crafts with the patients.  I will forever scream their praises.

#8 Going to the White House to cover FLOTUS Michelle Obama’s Tribal Youth Ambassadors Award Program was at the top of my bucket list. I’ve been trying to get to the White House since the Obama’s took office. After 7 years and 11 months I finally made it.

#9 Interviewing Denzel & Pauletta Washington is bucket list worthy although it wasn’t on my bucket list. Covering more red carpet events was on the list. Perhaps this comes with the territory. *bucket list* This is a Hollywood A Lister and the man that a million woman across 5 generations swoon over.

#10 I spoke at the Girl Scout Conference on Leadership & Inclusion.  I wanted to speak at some point, I didn’t know how or when but the opportunity presented itself this year and I said yes. Because Year of Yes told me I should.

I had things I wanted to accomplish and did. I had things I wanted to accomplish and I didn’t. I also allowed life to happen to me a bit and amazing opportunities fell into my life. I’m thankful for the good and the bad.  I’m looking forward to kicking more butts and checking off more bucket list items in 2017.
